It’s been a little bit of a wait, but the vinyl of my album Process of Elimination is finally here in my hands! Thank you so much to everyone who ordered it for your patience — after the manufacturers liquidated just before the release date, it took a while to get hold of our copies. You can order it from Bandcamp or any independent record store that stocks AD 93 releases!
Releasing music is so often attributed to this one “release date”, but I’ve found it’s often a very gradual process: research, writing, producing, recording, mixing, manufacturing, the actual sharing, launch events, physical objects… Often things shift and happen in a strange order, and you have to trust the process.
Since I returned from a residency in Santa Fe in late October, my plan for the rest of 2024 was to rest, eat good food, listen to my body and not really start anything new. I’ve been doing a lot of this, but some unexpected opportunities also emerged.
Firstly, myself and my partner Orion Isaacs were interviewed about our ongoing project t-fags for a new zine titled Pulp which explores themes of intimacy, eros and queerness. It will be launching alongside a popup exhibition at The Photobook Cafe in Shoreditch on Tuesday 3rd December 6-9pm, which some of our photographs will be included in. If you’re not able to attend, you can also pre-order the zine online here. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates on the t-fags project in 2025 too…
Secondly, I had the opportunity to sing alongside musician Genevieve Dawson at St Giles Church in Camberwell on Thursday, in support of Medical Aid for Palestinians. It’s been a joy to meet and connect with Gen via mutual friends. We were performing a new composition she wrote whilst on residence in the beautiful Scottish landscape — whilst only miles away from where the Trident nuclear weapons programme is based; a stark reminder of the funding the UK puts into weaponry.
I want to close this newsletter by sharing When I Survive: a compilation which came out today — curated by S.P.A.F, who are a radical Welsh arts collective. The release features 38 tracks and all proceeds go towards two fundraisers for Yousef and Yahya, who are friends of SPAF from Gaza City and have now been displaced because of the ongoing genocide.
Until next time,
